The below video was taken on Saturday May 28, 2011. The project started the previous Tuesday night. They already had nourished close to 1000 feet of beach in four days. The sand in this section is easy to walk on and has no smell. Over the years the locals have gotten used to narrow beaches. If you live here you might not even feel like you are on the Outer Banks because the beach is so wide and level.
It will be interesting to see how this beach holds up to the fall hurricanes and winter nor’easters.
This “finished” section of beach is wide enough for throwing frizbees, a summer football or soccer game and flying a kite. Also, it looks like the new beach has amplifed the surfing waves in front of this small nourished section of the beach.
